My DD is currently a Freshman and we are trying to figure out her options for the next Fall term. She is currently living on campus in Dorman as she had a high #. She will be applying to be an RA for the Fall term. Anyone here have any experience on the RA process? How about if she had a high # as an incoming Freshman, will her chances improve in getting a better dorm? TIA

There’s a pretty good chance that if she just applies for on-campus housing next year, she will get into one of the returning resident dorms (McCollum, Ragans, Traditions). A good number of the on-campus residents move off after 1 year, freeing up a lot of space.

If she doesn’t, she will be able to get pretty much any freshman dorm. The priority number system is based off initial registration date, and returning residents are assigned months before freshmen.

If she applied to be an RA, however, her priority number for next year only matters if she turns down whatever offer FSU Housing makes towards her being an RA.
