Housing? Haven't Applied Yet

I’m a former CAP student from UT Tyler who completed my freshman year and have not yet applied for housing - my parents want me to stay on-campus (I could personally care less whether I end up on campus or not) and I’m wondering if it’s even worth it to pay the $50 non-refundable application fee to stay in on-campus housing. From everything I’ve heard about UT Austin living, the dorms fill up incredibly far in advance (some of my high school friends secured housing the summer before they even started senior year) so I’m not sure if there will be any room left.
I was also accepted into Pearl, 21st Street and Taos Co-ops, any opinions on which are welcome.
Please provide any insight you may have as to whether I should apply on-campus, find off-campus apartments, or choose co-op living. Any information on pricing (which I’ve looked into but have found limited results on) would also be greatly appreciated - basically anything you’ve got, I’d love to hear.
Thanks in advance!
