The priority deadline to reserve a housing spot has passed. They said that if i reserved a spot and cancel it I would loose the registration fee. If I apply now ooes it mean that I can still cancel it later and not have to pay the fine since it never got reserved. Also if I never had to pay for my SIR does it mean that I have to pay for it later on or was it completely free? Also if they deferred it does it mean they fight take it off of my fafsa?

I would say try to apply anyway because it would be worth it.
However, it might be best to talk to housing about that.

Sorry I can’t be much help.

The SIR fee charged is applied to your campus bill. So yes, in theory, you will be paying it later as it was a deferment of the fee, not a waiving. Same with the $150 housing payment. The only waived fee would be the application fee I’m guessing you must have received if you qualified for a deferment of the SIR fee.

I’m confused by what you mean of “take it off your FAFSA.” Do you mean would the fee be taken from your financial aid offer? If so, yes and no. It will be taken from any monies you have available to use and if there is a remaining balance to be paid, you must pay the difference out of pocket. If your financial aid is in excess of your charges then you will receive a refund check to use for other school bills.

I have never applied outside of the priority period so I do not know if the down payment would be charged, but I would assume so, but it might be different for waitlist applicants. They have been very upfront with continuing students that canceling our contracts for next year will result in charges for varying amounts still being charged to our accounts (and if after a certain date, it would also result in a late fee being charged). Your best bet would be to call the housing office and ask.
