For housing, do freshmen ever get assigned an upperclassman as a roommate(s)?.

Because i am a freshman entering Muir college. I got an apartment (double room) and i've heard that first years typically get Residence halls instead.

Should i expect upperclassman as my roommate?

I applied for a double, but I got a single. weird. I don't like to be on the third floor though...it is possible to change to a double, but another floor?

Same here. I applied for a Double as well and was expecting a Triple, so when I checked and found out I was in a Single it was quite a bit shocking. It has its perks and downsides. I'm just scared I'm not going to get the full college experience.

i loved having a single frosh year, gave me a place to study that i didnt have leave to go to the library, but i was still surrounded by 12 suitemates so i def didnt miss out on anything good

this year i didnt get a good sign up time so im stuck with a double with someone who doesnt agree with my lifestyle, haha..gonna be a great year :P..wish i had that single again, but i guess i dont need to hold a preconception of the year ahead

Cool! I'm also in H House on Tioga. Pretty awesome to be so high up because of the whole "You wake up to the ocean!" gig. Going to suck carrying stuff up if the elevators ever go down.

if i remember correctly, if your suite number starts with 10, 40, 50, 80 for muir in tioga, (for example, H-42) then your suite faces the ocean. This doesn't mean your room has a view of the ocean but at least your nerdbox does. But this applies only to those on 5th floor or above (G-house or above)

and yes, if you got a muir apt space, you should expect to be living with a sophomore. lots of extra room this year, i see...but expect it to be quieter than the reshalls. and lucky you, the apts were renovated this summer. it was so nasty last year.

If you're in room 54, you'll get an ocean view. It's a pretty sweet deal.
I didn't think the apartments were terrible last year but the renovations should help. I don't know if they did all of them though. They might've split it up and done one half this year.

And yes, MiqueMaus, you'll be stuffed into the elevators the first day. It's a good time to say hi. Inevitably, there will be someone who overpacked and brought the world with them on move-in day.

Awesome. TI-54B. Upper levels and ocean views! Woo!!!

I'm trying my best to make sure to not overpack. That mainly involves making sure my Chinese mother does not force random **** into the car when we drive down. My response to everything is "There is a Walmart right there, if I forget it, we can buy it." Hopefully, I won't leave out anything important or expensive.

I guess now is time to start getting excited.

That's a pretty good plan, especially since you don't really know how much you're roommates will take with them. Have fun during move-in and zero week!

i had a pretty good view in argo, 3rd floor..and i had a single..i saw just the tip of the ocean, but i faced the anchor so the light was nice and bright all the time

and being in a single it wasnt cramped..i had a mini fridge, printer, microwave, snowboard, and surfboard lol...well i guess it was kinda cramped once i put all that crap in there, but it was very liveable..and i figured out how to move everything around to fit right
