I just received an email notifying me that my housing offer had been changed. Im now in Reiber Terrace instead of Reiber Hall...pretty bumbed has this happened to anyone else?

same thing happened to me!
From Rieber Hall triple to Rieber Terrace triple shared
i emailed them about it, no reply yet

Rieber Terrace is nicer than Rieber hall. You’ll enjoy the plaza life. I wonder what’s up with Rieber.

i was in reiber vista and they kept me, but switched my room…and they aren’t telling me who my new roomate is :X

When you guys applied for housing you actually did agree that they can switch your room at any time for any reason.

Actually, my brother’s housing got switched when he came to UCLA too. Apparently his 2 roommates were supposed to be with their 3rd friend but the housing office screwed up and put my bro in instead. So the housing office just moved him a few doors down and put this other guy into the room.

Just saying it happens, the best you can do is submit a CAR when you get here if you don’t like it.

wow thought i was alone in it. But the extra 2,000 may not be worth it
and is the plaza life much less social than the residential hall life?

depends on ur floor, although in general halls are more social…i lived in a hall, but the ppl on my floor werent that social so it sucked…yet i have friends in de never and other plazas that had really social floors, so it can work either way…although halls are on average more social…are u a first year?..u can always switch after like the first 2 weeks they have an open transfer night…and u can always walk to rieber hall (a one min walk literally) and hang out…dont worry about it

Hey,

I have actually heard other numerous cases that are the exact same and it has been all from Rieber Hall to a nearby plaza. I am a SL for Rieber Hall and I want to know why our number of prospective residents are decreasing, too. I will visit the Housing Administration office tomorrow and talk to a couple of managers that I know there. I’ll try to update this tomorrow!

As for the residential life, having a resident Hall is optimal for incoming freshman. I have some friends who live in plazas and they always visit their sister hall because of the inactivity in their own building. Some students like the peace, but most others, like me, like to see people often in the lounges.

Happened to my friend too! I applied for housing late by accident but am guaranteed housing still, and said friend was my second choice roommate (room mate choice was my first priority), wondering if this affected it. Still waiting to hear about mine though!

I also got switch from Rieber Hall triple to Rieber Terrace Triple, but my requested roommate did not get swtich out And I put the roomate choice as my first preferance. I am also worry that Plaza might not be as sociable as Halls. Is there any ways that I can get my requested roommate back?

Rieber Hall is newly renovated for next year… so I’d definitely take it over RT (social > space) and it’s still pretty nice
