Housing Questionnaire

Could anyone here tell me what is the CHOICE hall? I mean are there something different out there or any special style? and please list all the pros and cons you think there could be to live in a res hall. for me thats definitely great to live with people having the same interests, but im also looking forward to knowing guys who have much different favors than me… really confused

besides, which hall has the best outdoor sight from the window? please just put your comments here, thanks a million :)

I think CHOICE is an alcohol free hall. It seems like a great place to meet people if aren't that into drinkin.

question: will bucknell put you in the same room with some1 if you request to be their roommate?!

CHOICE is an acronym (can't remember the exact wording now), but it's substance-free housing, with a quiet hours commitment, too. I believe you sign a contract that you will abide by the rules and you can be tossed from the dorm if you are found to be in violation.

There have been recent complaints during the housing lotteries that students sign up for CHOICE housing only because it has been in a desirable dorm location lately. THey have no intention of following the rules, but simply want to live in that dorm, and since CHOICE has blocked off so many of the floors, it's nearly impossible to get into that dorm without going with CHOICE. There was some talk this spring of moving the CHOICE floors to a different, older dorm.

I'm pretty sure that Bucknell doesn't let you pick your roommate's freshman year. They say something about it in the housing application I think. They do this to encourage you to meet new people.

When you say 'quiet hour commitment' you mean only for certain hours of the night right? I mean, if I sign up for CHOICE I can still play my guitar in my room up until a certain hour, right?

not sure of the particulars - you might try a search for CHOICE on the BU website, or, if you've been admitted, you should have info on it in your housing paperwork.

i dont remember anything about quiet hours in CHOICE... only at night (obviously) and during finals and midterms when the whole campus is on quiet hours too. there were times when there was a lot of noise on my CHOICE hall and it didnt seem to bother anyone.

ahhh - maybe that's what I'm thinking, lilt-- quiet hours during certain times of the year.
