Appreciate any housing recommendations(dbl room) for a freshman Biomedical student. Thanks for any help.

Would you rather be in a big building or a smaller one?

athenisa-haven’t even thought about that…should I? Are there any theme halls for engineering majors?

Got into Biomedical as well!!

Looking for the same info

I honestly don’t know. There are a lot of themed halls, it’s possible there is one. If that’s who you wish to surround yourself with, then check if there is and apply for it. It’s pretty common though that you don’t get into a theme you requested, whether it means you didn’t get placed in a theme you wanted, or you got placed into a theme you didn’t necessarily want :P

I currently live in a smaller building in Segundo for Music/Performing Arts and easily half the building has never done much or anything at all in music or any art, but they love it here and everyone loves them. The major benefit to a small building is the camaraderie is great because when there’s 30 people on a floor with 2 floors, everyone knows everyone. It’s close-knit and social, without being annoying. In bigger buildings (sometimes 100 to a floor, 4 floors) I know people have complained that it’s like staying in a hotel and it seems like you don’t know that many people there because it’s nearly impossible to know all 400 people

Good point. Any recs for small buildings?

Sereno is where I am, it’s great. My buddy Cody might be the RA and he’s awesome. Indio and Campo are very similar. Talara is the quiet hall this year which is probably good if you want that but most people don’t They’re Segundo buildings. Segundo is a good spot, and further from the cows than Tercero (though the truth is it isn’t that bad anywhere anyway)

If you want a double, don’t rank Tercero first. It’s nearly all triples this year, although I suppose it could change. Segundo is definitely the best location of the three. Cuarto is off campus and all suite style (you share a common room with around 3-9 other people.)

There’s an engineering floor in the building across from mine (Kearney). However, it’s almost entirely males, so keep that in mind. Also, you have no say as to what hall you’re placed in (unless you know what hall a specific theme is on), only what area you’re placed in (Tercero, Segundo, or Cuarto.) You’ll rank all three of those and then do this complicated ranking of other criteria such as room occupancy (double, single, etc.), floor style (standard, suite, etc.), environment (coed or single sex), and floor programs.
