My daughter received an email regarding her acceptance into common course today. We are confused as to what dorm that is? She also requested a roommate and I know the roommate requested her too. She did not receive the same email and it says to respond today. Any help on this would be appreciated.
I think the common course idea happens in multiple dorms/learning communities so, for instance, the psych learning community may have as one of common courses, a U101 that is specific to the interest of that community. Different set of common courses for say sports management, etc. Call housing if you need clarification about how it works and if it is limiting her roommate request in any way - I would think not if in same learning community (not everyone does common courses) but the common course FAQ on housing site is not as clear as it could be.
Housing seems to be one area where they frequently change the way things are done so I would always call and check with them directly with questions and not rely on people on CC since it might not be exactly the same as last year. For my D there was something different every year - deadlines, roommate procedures, timing, etc. Always best to go to the source.
Thanks so much for info… I did call and it’s a very confusing process. I wish they would make the housing situation a little clearer.
@scmom12 just curious… Have you ever heard anything about Columbia hall?
My son was in Columbia Hall last year… seemed to like it okay.
