Hey guys and gals,
Just in case you wanted to know, you can find out your housing early if you go to Agora, then to U-View, and then to Addresses/Phone Numbers. It might not be posted yet, but it’s a good place to check up on every once in a while if you’re curious.

sweet thanks. i looked under mine and all it has is my home address so far, my new phone number, and #001F. You can't tell from your phone number, can you?

How do they pick if you're in newton or upper if you ask for upper, anyway?

When do you usually find out where you are going to be living? I was told early august... i hate the term early .. some people consider the 15th of august early while others dont ...

I honestly don't remember when i found out last year...
It's probably after the second to last orientation because those kids can still choose to room with someone they met at orientation..

Do you remember when the last orientation may be around by any chance? I am an exchange student so i dont have information on freshman orientation.

My son (2010) seems to think August 8 is when he'll hear about his dorm and roommate.

Although next week's orientation may be the last for roommate selection, there will one more orientation held just before classes start (for students outside N England and the mid-Atlantic).

It's mostly senior housing; apartment style. Apartments have two people per bedroom, with either four or six people per apartment. They contain a private bathroom, living room, dining area, and full kitchen.

I am an exchange student, not firstyear. Previously i assumed we would find out when you did. I cannot access agora yet as we have not been informed of our password. There is only limited space for us so i think we basically get whatever is randomly vacant. Glad to hear its nice! I was reading that there are floors where you are supposed to speak another language, i dont speak anything other than english so that could be interesting if i was randomly placed on one of those floors heh.

Assignments are up! S is delighted to be on Upper in a traditional (not forced) triple.

Question for dorm veterans re: floorplan -- it looks like his are connecting rooms with one hall access. Is one room usually used as sitting and one as bedroom, or do you walk through one kid's bedroom to access second room? Looks like there are closets in each.

amdgmom~woohoo!! Sounds like your S has exactly what our D had her freshman year!!!!! She was in Kostka, and it was a corner triple of two rooms on the 2nd floor. They put all the desks, and one of the dressers, in the front room with the hall door access. That room had one closet. They also had a futon, tv, stereo stuff--and all the computer stuff--in that room. In the corner room they bunked 2 of the beds, and lofted (about halfway) the 3rd bed, so there was a lot of storage underneath that one. The other dressers were in there--and it was great!!!!! And...what looks to be a second closet in that room is actually a BATHROOM!! They had their own bathroom with a shower in that corner room!! They had to keep it clean, provide the toilet paper (which I'm sure they mostly "borrowed" from the hall bathrooms), etc.--but it was wonderful!!!!

It is not an air-conditioned dorm (I'm not sure if any of the Upper Campus dorms are?), but the corner room had 2 windows, and the girls had sereral fans that provided lots of good ventilation, as well as cover noise. Studying could be done in bed with one of the clip on lamps, but was mostly taking place in the outer room with their computers.

Your S totally struck the room jackpot with his assignment!! Congrats!!
