Hi! So... I've put in my deposit, but when do we recieve housing information? I'm trying to get into the honors dorm, and I've heard it fill up really quick. Is it possible to do the housing application online? or is it only through the mail?

You have to wait for the housing materials to arrive from Pitt in the mail. For Forbes you'll need to write an essay detailing why you want to live in honors housing and what you'll bring to the community. Then a committee picks who gets to live in Forbes. My daughter didn't get honors housing last year, but she's been very happy in Tower B, which is very convenient for dining and very social too.

oh really!? you have to write an essay for honors housing? but hey! at least it's fair!!

The Honors Housing application is on the Honors College's website, you can go there and print it out and complete it (and the essay) while you are waiting for your housing packet to arrive. Also, it is possible to do the housing app online through your My PITT account on the Panther Central page. And don't worry about honors housing filling up too quickly because the applications are all due on May 12th, there is no preference given to those who apply first. We should all hear back in late May. Hopefully I'll see you next year in Honors Housing! (Feel free to message me with any questions)

Can you apply to 2 different types of housing, just in case you don't get into one? Can I apply for both honors and SPACe just in case I'm rejected from one of them?

i don't believe there are any rules against applying to more than one community...i was on the wait-list for forbes and got in because a girl decided to live in towers instead. it's not like you must live in forbes just because you're accepted.

What are the themed housing options, if any?

There is SPACE for engineers, the honors housing in forbes, Nursing, international living, and something else i believe...

Actually, check here under "First Year Communities"
