I gave my housing deposit on Feb 23, but not selected a roomate as yet. My most important preference is to be on North Campus. If I pick a roomate before May 15, will that ruin my chances of being put on North Campus even if the roomate put in their deposit by mid-March?
Does anyone have experience with this situation?

So you paid your deposit, as did your friend, but neither of you indicated any housing preference at all?

Still looking for roommate before May 15 deadline but if I find one who deposited it in February or March will that hurt my chances of getting assigned to the North Campus? This is what the housing office is saying at this point.
Need some guidance because I would rather be on North campus with a random roommate than select a roommate and have to be on South campus.

Call housing to find out the answer to your question.

We can answer form experience, but may not be correct.

Oh I thought you had a roommate in mind…if not, isn’t it going to be a somewhat random choice either way? I’d say just let them place you in your first/second choice preference. It’s not impossible to switch later if you absolutely can’t get along, but I think most people find they can make it work.
