How Accurate is the Net Price Calculator?

I'm from divorced parents and my mom (my custodial parent) makes around $110,000 and my dad makes less than $60,000. Overall, we are $160,000 in debt because of our house. The net price calculator says that my EFC is $15,000 and that my total cost will end up being $23,000. The calculator claims that it will give me $36,000 in grants. The cost seems a little on the low side compared to what I have read. Is the calculator accurate, or does the financial aid office end up giving less money than they claim on the calculator?

For me it was really pretty close. Slightly more generous than the estimate. Also I got a work study ($2500) which the estimator didn’t show.
