How affordable is the UW?

I’m an OOS individual who wants to apply to the UW, but am concerned about the cost. I live in Illinois, and I come from a middle class, large family. My parents pull in around 145k-150k on the average year, with a family of 6. My stats are as follows:

3.75 unweighted GPA
4.3 weighted GPA

I got a 31 on my first practice ACT awhile ago, and a 1320 on the PSAT, both of which Im confident will rise.

My family obviously isn’t poor, but we have a large family and my parents can only afford so much. What would be a typical family contribution for someone in my situation?

Run their Net Price Calculator to get an estimate. Other people’s situations won’t be helpful to you.

There is also a Purple & Gold Scholarship for OOS students that could knock off about 32k from the COA. To get the maximum you might need to get the GPA and test scores up a little bit.

I would recommend you apply to University of Illinois, and some private OOS colleges which give general scholarships and financial aid. OOS public university doesn’t make sense. For example, if you like the Seattle area, Seattle University or University of Puget Sound would probably be cheaper than UW for you.
