I’m ending my freshman year in a few days and I was thinking about doing a sport next year. My GPA is a 98/100 as of right now(weighted) and I did a few clubs like art, volunteer, biology, and environmental but I wasn’t that involved in them and often missed meetings because I found them boring. I do mission trips and teach kids at vacation bible school over the summer. I’m also going to be a part of the student council, and volunteer for a couple of hours every other week for an organization called Katie’s closet. I go home almost every day after school and I feel like I’m missing something. I was thinking about joining volleyball and practicing over the summer. I’m probably not going to consider an ivy league but I am aiming for pretty good colleges like Northeastern University. So how do you think I am doing? Am I on the right track or should I be more involved by taking on a sport? Thanks in advance.
HS is a wonderful time to try things. If you find out that the clubs are boring then maybe they aren’t for you…or maybe they are not doing very much. Maybe you can get more involved into getting things done…like finding volunteering opportunities or actually volunteering if you dont’ care much about the club type stuff. Or maybe it is time to try a sport and see if you like that. Sports are not boring becuase practice is very active.
But this is a great time to figure out what kind of ECs are your cup of tea.
You seem like right on track to me!
