so i have no relationships with any of my professors. i just transferred to my uni 2 semesters ago.

I had a similar problem when I began looking at Doctoral Programs. I had no classes with a professor more than once in my Masters program, and hadn’t really spoken to any of them outside of class. The key I found was just to ask. I emailed the professor whose class was most related to the doctoral program, and reminded him of how well I did in his class. I was surprised to get an affirmative response rather quickly. Start with professors you took more than once, or did extremely well with. The worst that will happen is they say no!

Hope this helps…

You’re not doing it right. 2 semesters is a year.

Within three weeks of transferring to my UG Degree-granting institution I was working in a laboratory and actively attending Chem Dept. seminars.

You need to speak up and be known.

Transferring in late shouldn’t be a problem. Most professors are prepared to write letters that are pretty generic, but may get the job done if they are well known in the field. I would email professors whose classes you took and received good grades in and let them know that you are applying to graduate schools and maybe meet with them and let them get to know you now.

I had quite a few friends apply last year that had to do that and they got into some fairly prestigious schools.
