The music program at our school is ranked top 5 in the state, and NJ is known for its musically talented high schools. so do you think my school being known for its musical potential will help in the admission process?

yes. well im a junior currently right now. and i am planning to apply to the Clive Davis program at the Tisch department. it has my dream to work behind the scenes of the comtemporary music industry and i plan on doing whatever i have to do to get accepted by this program.I know 40-50% of the other part of the application has to do with the portfolio..but if my portfolio is stellar. do you think just this part, my grades and extracurricular are fulfilling to NYU's standard for the Tisch department of the Clive Davis program. ( Note. Clive Davis only accepts 18 students a year, really, 24 but 6 are transfer).i am very passionate and talented in what I love to do. I long to learn about music and its recorded industry functions to enter the industry as soon as I am finished with my degree at Clive Davis.. what do ya guys think?

btw. i know alot of my ECs (the choir ones) are classically and choral based. but I do have a passionate love for the comtemporary arts more and I only participated in these wonderful programs because classical singing teaches you the basics and the foundations, and from this point, you can flourish your skills to its maximum potential.nevertheless, I am not going for a performance major, I am planning to work behind the scenes of music companies and labels.

bump.....plz

come on guys..

very good chance I'd say

Depends really on how u do on that AP classes i guess,

wait, clive davis?

I am sorry, i have no idea about taht program

hey man...i got into the program this year...i'd say u have a really good chance, at least academically. I had a 1560, etc...similiar stats...i've taken AP Lit, Lang Comp, Euro, Gov, and US. I scored pretty well on my SAT IIs...640 on Math IC though lol. I am active in jazz band, and I also do volunteer work...for Central Park Summerstage. I think they like people who have potential...and are also smart, because apparently it's a lot of work. But I've also had some experience with recording, so that might have helped. If your portfolio is good, you should definately have at least a decent shot at getting in. Apply ED...I did...if you really wanna go.

if you take any ap tests your senior year, colleges won't see your scores because by then you'll have already applied to colleges and will probably know where your going. you take ap tests in may of next yr, but you start applying oct/nov of this yr
