How are the dorms at UC Davis?

I was wondering if its better to rent an apartment or pay 12,300$/year in the school

(numbers obtain from TCB)

Apartments are cheaper, but the opportunity cost for not living in the dorms the first year is a lot in my opinion. Although if you disregard social networking, it’s not that big of a deal…

But uh… could you be more specific? as in are there separate buildings for guys and girls? or are there co-ed buildings?

I think all buildings are co-ed, but there are single-sex floors.

Do stay in a dorm the first year. Believe me: it’s complicated enough starting to look for an apartment halfway through your freshman year to inhabit beginning in September of your sophomore year…

There is a huge variety in the dorms at Davis. Do some research on the Student Housing website–it is pretty complete, as far as I can remember. Seriously, there is no way to succinctly summarize the on-campus housing situation in a paragraph…

does almost everyone live off campus after freshman year??

Yes the majority do.
