I know it may be weird to ask, but how are the bathrooms? Are there stalls for showers or is it like a prison or something?

Also, how many people tend to be in the lower level classes?

of course there are stalls for showers lol. and most people who live in dorms are freshman with a good number of sophs too.

Dorms are great, if a bit expensive. Many bathrooms in the units are coed, but you get used to it. There really isn’t anything to be nervous about.

Of course there are stalls. If you don’t want to share the bathroom with the opposite gender you can choose a single-sex floor within the dorms.

of people in “lower level classes” can vary from major to major, but you can check class sizes for said classes on schedule.berkeley.edu

Darn it! I wrote a long reply and my internet disconnected! Basically I said they’re really good unless ur Angelina Jolie’s son but even then, you might like it!

Doesn’t Angelina Jolie adopt poor africans, in which you are saying the dorms suck?

also, do classes ever get to 500 people. I am choosing between Berkeley and McGill. One of my turnoffs for McGill is their intro are 600 people, but if Berkeley is the same, then that won’t be a factor

Unit 3 has the nicest bathrooms, in my opinion. But the bathrooms in Units 1 and 2 are fine, too. They’re cleaned nearly every day. I’ve never had a gross experience in them.

What does coed bathrooms mean? Does it mean that in a regular bathroom, there are both men and women using that one single bathroom all at the same time?

Are dorms coed? Can you request a coed roomate?

yes, sometimes we have 1000 people in classes. we have to split lectures into 2 sessions, morning and afternoon. unfortunately, no one goes to the morning ones so EVERYONE goes to the afternoon ones and every single seat is taken up pretty much. quite a few people are actually left standing.

coed bathrooms mean that both men and women can use the bathroom at the same time. In Unit 3 (where I lived freshman year) has 5 stalls and 5 showers. Some toilets were designated standing only and some were sitting only. Some of the showers did not work properly. Halls are coed except Stern (girls) in Unit 1 and Bowles (guys). Most floors are coed with a few exceptions. You cannot request a coed roommate from what I know. They may accidentally put you with a person of the opposite gender though haha.

as anyone been sexiled before?

You can request a roommate of the opposite sex if you live in the Unity (LGBT) Theme House in Foothill. It’s open to anyone of any gender and any orientation.

Are the showers located inside private stall/curtain? Or is everything out there for communal use (similar to a locker room)?

Does anyone have an opinion on which dorm is the most luxurious one? For me cost doesn’t matter as my scholarship pays for it =D

And am i correct to say that freshman can’t get single rooms? =(

So, we are supposed to get undressed and into a towel and then go into one of the shower stalls? I don’t understand where we’re supposed to undress - is there space in the shower stalls to undress and put our dirty clothes?

Kind of surreal looking at frosh questions, I feel old…

repeat, showers are in private stalls

frosh are very unlikely to get single rooms (unless due to disabilities). Most luxurious would probably be the minisuites in Unit 1

within the shower stalls there is a partition (long curtain), on one side there is the actual shower and on the other there is a shelf, hooks etc. Though to be honest after a while most of us just walked between our rooms and the shower in bathrobes/towels. There are also lockers in the bathroom so you can keep shower stuff in there and not have to carry them every time
