how are things looking so far?

I just started my junior year, and I know it's a tad early to do chances, but can you guys tell me how everything is so far?

I am an Asian (indian) female from MA, and I attend a competitive public school. I take the toughest classes my school offers.

Freshman GPA: 4.0 uw
Sophomore GPA: 3.7 uw
Rank so far: about top 5-6%

Please note that I moved and therefore switched schools after my freshman year. I guess that is why there was a slight downward trend. I am working to bring things back up this year.

ECs:
-I have been playing the violin for about 7 years now, and I was also a part of the Symphony Orchestra in Grade 9.
-I was on Speech Team in 9th grade.
-Science Club
-Model UN
-PEER Leaders
-Yearbook Staff
-Volunteered at Elks Lodge (about 50 hours)
-Volunteered at Pediatric Office (about 30 hours)
-Currently Volunteer at the hospital (18 hours so far)

Upcoming things in the future:
-Hopefully an internship in research or a job over the summer
-membership in NHS
-Leadership positions in at least a couple of the clubs listed above

I have not yet taken my SATs, but I am prepping and hope to get a 2000 or above.

My dream school is Brown, does that look too far of a reach? Other schools I am interested in: Boston College, Boston University, Tufts, Brandeis, and URI. Can anyone also recommend some other schools in nearby areas? Thank youuuu.

Too early to chance you, sorry.

Accepted everywhere except Tufts. You may get financial aid elsewhere. Have fun at the college of your choice. Best of luck in the admissions process.

how did you make Brown easier to get into than Tufts?

And you'll need your SATs to be a lot higher than 2000 for anything other than a decent chance.

His application is Unique, and thus that balances out his slightly low SAT scores for said schools on his list.

I'm not sure what my SAT scores will be. That is just a prediction...it might (in fact hopefully) be a lot higher than a 2000.

Define unique, Rutgers.

sak09: Practice makes perfect. With your grades, I'm confident that you can reach at least 2100+.

His application is wildly different from another person on this site. Pull up the chances forum and click on a random thread, compare it to his. His app has some things that most others lack.

I think sak09 is a girl.

And just pulling up a random thread and comparing it to hers does not qualify as 'wildly different'.
Asian female, top 5% of class. Science league + instrument, various volunteer work. A sprinkling of leadership. What is completely unique about that?

I don't mean to offend, sak09. I just believe that Rutgers is being too optimistic.

Well, obviously comparing it to other CC'ers is not a good way to assess uniqueness. My bad for my last post saying that. Everyone here is motivated, thus they have very good resumes. But compared her to the normal kids in her school without all the other stuff she has. She is definitely unique in the grand scheme of things. Besides, CC applicants make up such a small fraction of the applicants for college.

What? She is an INDIAN FEMALE going to a competitive MASSACHUSSETTS high school!! She has a good, but typical resume for a student from this background, not at all what I would call unique. She has a unique resume for a farmer boy from Idaho.

Brown is a low reach for the OP, with good essays you have a chance. Still a long time before college apps, so make the most of it!

Well, if she writes very compelling moving essays, she can get into Brown with her stats. That is, however, if the essay is very compelling.

bump, ok anyone else?
