How are we all doing?

Don’t even get me started on the giraffe…

Great feedback, many thanks! Will be trotting out Stargirl’s mom’s great comeback and remembering the perspective offered by Sue22. Thanks for bumping last year’s thread! Now I guess I have some catching up to do on the Danish Giraffe…

NOOOO! That is horrible. Poor giraffe. :(

I have to say that I am getting a lot of subtle negativity re: BS from my BFF. Her child is the same age and going to public high school next year. She is a very kind person and won’t say anything outright, but I can tell that she doesn’t approve.

We never really had to field that much negativity from people because 7D1 was an academic outlier starting in grade school and our local friends who knew her well enough were like “Oh, there’s no way you can let her go to the local public HS”. And the private day school we moved both kids to years ago, most people who don’t stay through HS go to one of the “brand name” BS…so again, no “judgment” from that particular social set.

The only time I got any negativity was from a friend of a friend at a dinner party. This woman pulled the “I love my kids too much to send them to boarding school” thing. The interesting thing was, this woman’s kids were very young in comparison to mine at the time…so I don’t know if she’ll have changed her tune by now. Our mutual friend apologized for her friend’s remarks afterwards.

I get a little bit of BS pushback, but the bigger issue is DS’s desire to go all the way to CA from the East Coast. I can’t say that I’m entirely comfortable with the idea either, but I can see why he loved those two schools. I don’t really say much to people who act all horrified that we’re letting him apply, other than to point out the obvious weather advantages. That way, they REALLY think I’m a terrible mother ;-)

Am really hoping that when I begin this process all over again next year for ZooGirl that she doesn’t find out about Thacher for that exact reason, GMC! I am afraid I might never get her back East again…

So much more anxious this admissions round for S2. With S1, we didn’t have a clue what was going on, so ignorance was a mercy.

@GMTplus7 Exactly! How old is S1?

S1 is a junior
