How Are You Paying for RIT

How are you paying the 43,000 next year!?!?!?!?

It looks like it will cost about $190,000 for the 4 1/2 years, I have $52,000 in scholarships, but the rest ($138,000) is me.... loans and money earned from co-op...

Trying to compare to a good state school that is $80,000 for 4 1/2 years, I have $26,000 in scholarships, that leaves me a pricetag of $80,000 more at RIT than a state school.

And how much will you earn from co-ops? That lowers the net cost of RIT (and makes you more employable afterward–what’s that worth?).

Chardo: Thank you. Just the type of discussion I am hoping to start. What is the co-op worth. I will co-op at the State college as well, and work an internship… but it is not as valuable as three co-ops might be… but it is still hard to put a value on all of that. Even just $70,000 in loans at 6% is $777 per month for 10 years… and that means me paying ~$70,000 from my co-ops and money from other sources…

Which state school?

SUNY Buffalo. A fine school. I just feel I deserve more choice because of the hard work I have done and what I have accomplished, not my parents.

dd was accepted to SUNY new paltz and it’s looking like this is our only financial choice since our EFC was about $1800 and she didn’t get any merit aid.
