How are you paying?

I was just wondering for those that got in/going, will/has your need been met, how will you be paying? This is the only drawback for me to go there.

I’m using money at the moment, but I’m willing to sacrifice a few goats if needed.

First born child was my choice.

You could also web your children to the offspring of the admissions officers. Your credit score might take a hit (long-term pre-arranged marriages are risky investments), but its still a good financing option IMO.

Theoretically, your appendix, pancreas and one of your kidneys could be sold for tuition.

Sent from my SCH-I535 using CC

Yeah you only get any kind of merit scholarship if you are 1. a female, 2. a three way multiracial black/hispanic/native american, 3. are very poor, and 4. are very smart

I prefer the first born child method as well

Very apropos comments considering OP’s name- go to threads that have been posted on this topic. Did you apply ED? CMU only will assure only ED applicants financial need aid. This doesn’t mean you won’t get anything though if you are RD and high stats.

In our household, we fund CMU through a variety of sources. My salary goes to tuition. My S’s 529 funds housing and savings funds rest (food). We pay the extras with H’s income (plane flights, incidentals) My S earned $5,000 from a summer job to fund recreation, going out to eat etc…) We received no financial aid and no merit aid.

What is your major? I would only go to CMU for a major that the school is well known for. The jury is still out for my son’s major.

He really loves the school, city and his classes. He says that the students there are incredibly bright across the majors.

In serious response to your question, my mum’s going to have to take out some savings (& by some, I mean a lot). Both my parents’ income for the next four years will go straight to defray tuition. I’m working two jobs right now, & that’ll hopefully help with any personal expenses.
Yeah, it’s a lot to do, but we knew it would come to this, so we’re just biting the bullet & plowing through it.

@fategone, I actually think the market for goats is not good any more, probably have to resort to the rare and elusive blue footed booby.

On a serious note, I am not expecting much, if any aid, so I just wanted to see how others were coping.

I’d say first born child, like some of the others, but he’s the one we’re paying tuition for. So I’m hoping with his CMU education, he rules the world and can assist us in our old age with his billions.

Besides that, two full pay kids in college are sucking the money out of our lives, like a fiscal vampire.
