How bad do grades have to get to get a notice/rejection?

I have not heard back, and I feel like I have really high chances of getting accepted (you can look at my chance me forum if you'd like). However, right now I have 3 A's, 4 B's and 1 C, and I'm worried that the school may take notice. I've seen a bunch of forums saying this shouldn't be a big deal and that I'll be fine, however I'm not willing to take any bad chances, which is why I'm asking. (If I'm ok and may sound stupid to others, sorry -- I really don't know :P). Yes, senioritis has hit me pretty hard, to be honest.

I’m pretty sure you can get by with those kind of grades, but don’t get too many C’s or worse yet, D and F’s. To be on the safe side, I would try to bump up that C, but really, you’re not in any really hot water.

Yeah I don’t think I’ll be hitting any more C’s. Definitely not any D’s or F’s. And for sure. Thanks man!

Yeah, no problem. And here I am worrying about my B in AP Calc. Hopefully, I’ll be seeing you at UW next fall ;)

I have a B in AP Calc too… my class is 2 periods, hence 2 B’s :stuck_out_tongue: my C is in AP Lit, but I’m not the best in that class, especially when it comes to style analysis and the 5 page essays. Haha. And you too!

I wonder if UW can consider the exact oppossite… I didn’t take 9th grade seriously and bombed my GPA… now I’m a straight A kid in Sr year. Too bad they only see the 9-11 grades GPA…

They do take into account your positive grade trends (and negative too). In worst case scenario if you were waitlisted or needed to appeal, then having a strong senior year would be extremely advantageous to improving your chances of successfully getting in.

@ Raamzic What’s the acceptance rate of those who send appeals?

When my friend wanted to appeal, they told him that 1-2% get through.

That said I got in…I appealed the same time that I applied, so it’s hard to know which really got me in.

Why do odds matter? If you want in you should do everything you can to get in.

Yeah, The chances of having a successful appeal are slim to none, the decision won’t change just because you appealed again, it really only works in most cases if something has changed from when you first applied. And I agree with travelgirl, I would do everything I can to get into my number one college.

I definitely agree. I’ve got a strong work ethic, and I got off to a bad start this year, so I’m still doing everything I can to get myself in.

This thread’s been abandoned, but my C went up to a B before the semester ended… resulting in 3 A’s and 4 B’s. This includes 3 AP classes, so I’m safe for sure, right?

Also, when does UW look at 1st semester grades? From what I understand, I believe they look through your Freshman-Junior curriculum while looking into your application, and once they accept you they request a transcript for senior year 1st semester? Then at the end of the year, they’ll look at your full transcript including 2nd semester senior year? (So far, it looks like I’ve blown nothing off, and I plan to keep it that way :stuck_out_tongue: But I’m curious of how it works)

Yes, good job!

UW looks at all of your senior grades only if you accept admissions … they check the transcripts in late June/July.

Keep it up for 2nd semester and don’t party too hard. ;D
