I’m a junior taking Spanish 2 and I feel overwhelmed by the rest of my AP classes and extracurricular activities. I think it’d be best for me to drop something next semester. It’s difficult because all I have are 4 core classes and Spanish. I can’t quit my extracurriculars because they pretty much support me in getting internships and other opportunities. I do have the choice between dropping a class that’ll get me 5 hours of university credit and takes me 9 hours to complete each week, or to stop taking Spanish at school (3-4 hours of studying a week) and take online Spanish. I’ve been told online Spanish is ridiculously easy and a joke, so I’m leaning towards that. Would taking online Spanish to finish the next semester make me look bad? Some of the colleges I’m looking at include UW, UCLA, and Cal Poly.
My school only offers Spanish starting sophomore year (1, 2, AP).
What do the colleges require? 3-4 years of foreign language or do they not care?
What does your GC thinK?
If you take online spanish, does it go on your HS transcript?
If so, I would consider taking online spanish because generally the level (honors, etc) does not matter as much as the fact you take it.
Also consider if you are good at self-motivation and if you will keep up with the work.
