How Badly Do You Have to Screw Up?

...to get your acceptance rescinded.

My first quarter grades are definitely not stellar. Mostly high 80s (B+ range), and one grade in the 70s (Calc BC). Should I be okay?

Thanks.

Having read threads in CC for the past year, I have never heard of someone with All B+ save for one C (in an AP course) being rescinded.

So grades dropping from A-'s to B+'s (AP classes btw) is ok even for 1st semester? Cause I’m slightly worried about it, but too late to drop classes and I understand everything just one exam bringing my grade down.

(Of course I’m assuming I get accepted in the first place. Guess we’ll know in ~37 days.

I feel like you should try and keep them up for the first semester just because of the midterm report or whatever. I’ll start slacking off after that, provided I get accepted ED.

I wouldn’t recommend slacking after first semester…I’m pretty sure you have to submit your final transcripts as soon as they come out and acceptance is technically tentative until then.

But, I think you’ll be fine as long as you’re doing your best and your grades don’t fall any lower. I’m having the same issue. I have three As and 3 Bs right now for the semester…but my quarter 2 grades are atrocious!

Good luck! :D

If you get below a C- in any class, Northwestern’s dean of students will send you a personal letter asking you to explain. Depending on your explanation you will either be 1. totally okay, 2. on probation, or (very very very rarely) 3. rescinded.

If you don’t have a D+ or below, you will be in the clear.
