I’m currently thinking about taking the spanish subject test in june, and then math and bio in august. However, I am thinking about whether it is worth putting in the effort for. Would it really matter to colleges, while I am planning on being a bio major, that I am good at a foreign language? Does it really add to my application enough that I should spend time studying for it? Or should I just forget about this and study for bio and math?
Most top schools only require/recommend two SAT subject tests, so I would just do Bio and Math. The only school that requires three is Georgetown. Unless you are planning to be a language/humanities major, I do not really see the need to do the Spanish one.
Actually, subject tests show your academic strengths. Having 2 sciences and 1 humanities shows you’re well rounded, strong academically not just in your major but in unrelated subjects- keep in mind that your major will only be 30% of your total classes. And since most have two, having a strong score in a third can only help. Now that’s ONLY if you’re good at Spanish!
