I’m really interested in journalism, but I come from a country where’s there’s not a lot of platforms available for students who want to explore their journalistic passion so I was hoping to start writing for a few international mags (digital or print).
Do you guys have any recommendations for which magazines I can apply to?They should ideally be geared towards teenagers (e.g Seventeen, Teen Vogue, Huffpost Teen), reasonably well-known globally, and likely to accept teen contributors If anyone has had experience writing for Seventeen, Teen Vogue, Huffpost Teen etc, do let me know and share your experience haha! It will be greatly, greatly appreciated
Hey! I’m a third-year journalism major at the University of Florida and I have a wealth of (unpaid) experience in writing for publications. In high school, I joined my school’s yearbook, but if it’s not one you have I highly recommend writing submissions to online magazine startups. They’re always looking for writers to contribute. Look on Twitter and Google topics to find these kinds of startups. Venn Magazine is geared toward a Christian audience, but they accept submissions regularly. Blogging is also a really great way to market your abilities as an independent and creative writer, so I’d recommend that! I had a class in college that had me create a WordPress blog about anything. I wrote about hikes and restaurants in my city and it gave me a lot to talk about in interviews since then. I hope this helps!
Start a blog and do your own independent research. Try volunteering at the local paper as well. You can start one on Google and Wordpress. Can also use Facebook or Twitter for posting stories.
