Okay, to give some context:
As a freshman, I was diagnosed with a chronic stomach condition which practically lowered my grades down to me being a B student because of the amount of time that I had to spend with treatment, I was mainly preoccupied with dealing with this, while it took a huge tole on me both physically and emotionally. When the ordeal finally started to die down, I was within the second semester as a Freshman with only 3 As and mostly Bs.
I was mainly confused on what I wanted to do in school, and I had no idea what to do.
This continued on to my Sophomore year, where I stumbled with my grades once again, because of a series of bad exams, I only managed to get into the swing of things near the end of the first semester of Sophomore year.
This was combined with a Geometry teacher who graded our class on multiple things she didn’t even teach or tell us about, I finished with a C+ in that class for the semester. I was a practically a straight B student.
It was only recently where I decided to make a resolve to try and aim high for college admissions. I again finished with only 3 As this first semester. My Unweighted GPA is right now a 3.4, while my Cumulative is a 3.6.
I made a resolve to push myself to do better, to not crash and burn like last time.
Right now, I’m in my second semester of Sophomore year, and I have straight As in every class except for an AP class, which is a B plus. This could change, but right now it’s holding steady.
My extracurricular activities as of now include:
Marketing Coordinator for a local TedX speaking event. (Running Social Media, Product Design, Etc.)
A Development Team leader for the school’s Hack Club.
An event planner for the school’s ACM Club.
An leadership intern for the school Honor Society.
Coordinator of an Entrepreneurship Club, that currently plans to help run a business organization for our town government.
I hope to add more to this, and I hope to do something bigger, or more impactful outside of school this or next year.
I still have a bit of time, but are my chances low to aim for a top school, or a semi-top school? I really want to try and improve, but I want to know if I could still make it.
