Considering that the student:
- Can’t get a full scholarship by getting into a university that meets the financial need.
- Isn’t eligible for a loan.
- Can get a few scholarships.
- Isn’t especially smart
- Is an international student
How would he be able to get around 20 000 dollars per year, to pay for college ?
What are some realistic ways that could work for anyone that follows the rules above ?
There is no way for you to get $$ for college here unless you are a very exceptional student and are accepted by one of the very few colleges that do offer FA to International students.
most US colleges are here to educate US students, and the only way International students can get a degree in the US is if they can prove that they can pay for it.
Does your country provide educational loans? That’s the only way I see it happening for you. The US isn’t gong to fund non-citizens.
Most colleges are $40-60K per year, so you need to budget for those costs plus travel and expenses.
What are your act or Saturday scores?
Some universities have a pretty low threshold for half tuition.
When you say ou’d need 20k, does it mean you have 25-40k?
We can’t help you without knowing what you CAN pay, what your stats are, which part of the world you come from, and what major you’re considering.
You can apply to universities that only offer need based financial aid and meet full need to all accepted students. (Take in consideration that these kind of institutions are need aware for Int. students)
You will just have to accept the fact that you cant go to college for undergrad then. If you dont have a high GPA, SAT/ACT or AMAZING Ec:s then theres no way you would qualify for merit aid either. Everything is far more expensive than 20k a year. You are just wasting your time.
Go for an undergraduate education in your home country and you could maybe go to the US for postgraduate education. There are usually a lot of fellowships and awards available to postgraduate students from their home country.
