How can I convince my parents for me to have my own car?

@Cluebus

LOL! Definitely why I did. It’s nice for them, yes, but it’s about my convenience more than theirs!

I’m almost 22 and don’t own a car. Can’t you take the bus or something? I can’t really think of any excuse you could have since I walked 2 miles to high school and then 4 miles to and from community college every day because there wasn’t a bus system. Walking, riding a bike, and taking the bus are nice ways to travel independently while you go to school and/or work for transportation that suits your ego.

^ Yeah, but you can open tears to get where you need to go, right? :stuck_out_tongue:

@bodangles My dad sold me to himself. Give me a break.

Your parents don’t owe you anything that’s how it sounds like you feel. Can your parent honestly afford another car? If so wouldn’t THEY have another car?

Here’s an idea, since you don’t have a car to pay for save allllll that money from your job and buy yourself a hoopdee for 500$

Or if you want a “new car” finance one. You are an adult. That year that you be had your license could have been enough time to save for a car; I know at minimum wage (8.75 here) I make 3k each summer. And working part time at school I made 4k its completely possible of you REALLY want it.

No your parents are not wrong for not getting you a car

When I read your post, I don’t see “I don’t have a car and I can’t get to school” or “I don’t have a car and can’t get to a job”, I see “It makes me look bad to not have my own car.” If I was a parent of limited means, I would say “I am getting you to college…if a car means that much to you, get a job and buy one.” So perhaps you might want to tell them you want to save for a car…would they continue to pay for your insurance?

Kids these days…

There is no way this isn’t a troll !

Maybe you could present it as benefiting them by making it so they don’t have to drive you everywhere?
