Currently I've become very interested in attending prep school my sophomore year. Unfortunately, my mother has not and my father is only a little more accepting of the idea. How can I convince my mother that boarding school is much better than my fairly average public school, where I feel like I'm not being pushed academically as hard as I could be? It's especially annoying because it seems as if she just pulls at straws for ways to tell me no, none of which are simply factual/logical. For example, she acts like we couldn't pay even though my father makes over $600,000 a year. No matter how hard I try though, she won't accept common sense.

Does anyone have any ideas that could help me persuade her that prep school is a good choice for me?

Beyond that, you should try to get your parents to an open state of mind. Try to compare your public school with boarding schools, and show how you could be more challenged. By showing how spectacular boarding schools are, and how well you would do there, you might be able to get to a point where they would let you apply.

Boarding school offers so many more opportunities (SYA, weekly speakers, many clubs, rigorous academics, just to list a few) so be sure to mention those to your parents.
