I took it once in April and got a 30, but my math and science scores were disappointing. Does anyone have any tips on how to improve those scores?

Some questions for you first [thay may or may not be necessary for me to help you] :
- What were your scores for the math and science sections?
- What grade are you at school and what math and science courses have you taken?
- What is your target score?

My advice/tips:
I’m mainly going to help with science because I was a math whiz in middle school and solving tricky problems fast isn’t really a problem for me most of the time.

For science, make sure to brush up on basic biology, chemistry, physics, and chart/graph reading. Going over the first three isn’t necessary, but it’s recommended, especially if you haven’t taken the class before. It helps you understand passages much more easily. I was stupid and didn’t review physics [which i had never taken before]. It took me so much longer to understand the physics portion of the science test in comparison to the chemistry section [which I had taken 2 years of].

Also, develop a strategy for getting through those long science passages in a way that you read almost everything and understand a substantial amount of it.

For math, go take a practice math section on the ACT. When you see which problems you got wrong, study just those parts of math. For the other ones that you got right, review them briefly to make sure you still understand the concepts.

I got a 36 on math 36 on science. 35 Composite.

Check out ACT for dummies. It has neat tips and tricks for some of the tougher problems on the ACT.
