How Can I Improve This Score?

Theres nothing wrong with it, its just a huge increase in score. It IS possible, but its not completely realistic. I think you should focus on improving everywhere, not just math and writing. If you get 750 on math 750 on writing and 750 on 700 on CR its gonna look better than if you got 800M and 800W and 600CR

Okay jason15975346! You are correct, because colleges look at score holistically. Thank you for the advice.

No problem. Hopefully you do well.

Is this an improvement?

I have finally found my problem with the SAT Math.
I know how to solve almost all SAT Math problems, but I always read the problem incorrectly thus making careless errors.
My tip to myself and others is to read the problems slowly and carefully, because I now believe that the whole SAT Exam is based on Reading Comprehension.
This is why when RC is extensively tested in the CR section, most people do not perform well.

What do you guys think?

you should be able to finish every math problem and SC problem within 30 seconds. May take a bit longer for the CR questions.

Why is the curve for the SAT Math so harsh?
-1 = 750
On the CR, -1 = 800.
On the Writing, -1 =800

I seriously having trouble with the Critical Reading section. From the practice tests, my highest score has been a 580 and my lowest score has been 520 so far.
I am almost in tears at this moment, and I may just try the ACT instead.

Is there any way that I can improve this score to at least a 650 before October?

ShadowRider where are you aiming for? One important thing about any SAT section is PRACTICE. NO Excellence can be acquired without CONSTANT Practice. That's the universal truth about anything you want to do. The same thing applies to CR sections as well. The more you see the questions, the more can digest and then analyse them.

Another way to quickly improve your overall SAT score to a 2000+ is to to focus on the two EASIEST sections: Math and Writing. Math and Writing MC can basically be done using one set of strategies: know the key rules/question types, and lots and lots of practice. The question types repeat over and over again.

JIMMY@KILLARNEY, I am aiming for a 220+ for the PSAT and a 2250+ for the SAT.
I have mastered most of the M and W content, but I always make some type of careless error in the M sections that can easily be eliminated with constant practice.
Avg. M score = 640 - 700 or 47
Avg. W MC Raw Score = 67
Avg. CR Raw Score = 530-590 or 39 :(

The passages in the CR section just kill me, and my score is always in the 500-580 range according to the Official Guide to SAT's chart.

***UPDATE***
Oh my goodness. I just retook the CR Section of the 2005 PSAT, and my score range was a 64-70 up from a 55. I actually read the passages this time, and I even had 5 minutes remaining to finish Section 1!
This is a huge improvement from my previous score, and I feel so pumped that I now fear complacency on October 18, 2006.

I am also convicted that the PSAT's CR Section is so much easier than the SAT, because the vocabulary in the sentence completion is only modicumly advanced.

I have a strong feeling that I can score a 220+ on October 18, 2006. What do you guys think?

ANY LAST MINUTE TIPS WILL BE APPRECIATED!!! :)

***UPDATE***
I just took the whole 2006 Practice PSAT in one sitting and scored a 192 with careless errors and a 206 without careless errors.

The reason for this low score is due to my frustration while taking the test, fatigue, and the constant interruptions from my surroundings.

Here is the breakdown of my scores:
61 CR
59 M - I know. What could have gone wrong here? Just talk to my careless errors and fatigue.
73 W

This is the 1st time I have taken a full PSAT Test and with no breaks for that matter. Usually I study for the SAT/PSAT by subject material. For example, when studying for the M portion, I only do the M sections of SAT/PSAT.

This low score will not destroy my hope of a 220+ on the PSAT, but will cause me to just study more rigorously. The next time I study for the PSAT/SAT, I will prepare myself by answering some past SAT QoTDs, which should really set my mind into SAT mode.

PLEASE!!! ANY LAST MINUTE TIPS WILL BE APPRECIATED!!! :(

I am so desperate and tenacious for tips that I will incessantly bump this thread until I receive tips.

I think people have given all the tips they can offer. I don't see how people can help more than they already have. But then again, I could be wrong.

If my next SAT score is not flagged, I will become despondent and morose.

Major mallet down!!!
