What are the best ways to increase a 480CR score to a 600? I really need to get a 600 on this portion to get into my college I want! Please help me out!!! I use princetons review book and am currently a sophomore! HELP!

If you don’t already have the blue book (college board’s official SAT study guide), then I’d recommend getting it and reading over the CR section. Doing some practice tests and studying vocab would help as well.

I am in same position. I want to increase 500->650. For last few weeks i took few practice tests and i see my score increase by like 10-20 on eact tests. Just take practice tests and use BB and you will slowly increase your score my Indian frd.

The more you practice in tests, the better your score will be.

Caughtintraffic, I will try to get that book and I am currently studying vocab (hit parade)!

Gondal505, Your in my boat i guess! I will take practice test and i’ll see if my score jumps up. I remember that couple weeks after taking the PSAT I took a practice full sat and my cr score jumped to 530! I will continue to study and thanks MY INDIAN FRIEND!! haha

SimplyBMW, thanks! I will do that for sure!

im in the same position…my cr score went up about 30 over an 8 week sat prep course…but im really trying hard to self study. my average is like a 520. my writing and math are ~700+

i just ordered the BB so hopefully that’ll prepare me for the sat the end of this jan.

what has REALLY helped me is grammatix. the author has explained the CR concepts and demonstrated tips very thoroughly and well. i definitely think you should check that out.

I’m in the same boat. I tend to overanalyze the CR and make easy mistakes on Math. Reading is stuck in very low 600’s and same with math, but my writing scores are 740-780. Quite agitating.

I’m Indian too. So I feel your pain hahaha.

Jesskidding, I’ll check that out. Also, do you think I should take my first SAT by the end of my sophomore year? Do colleges dislike applicants who have taken the test multiple times and started of low?

Haphazard, haha my Indian friend! My math is about 700, but my writing and reader are low 500’s. I need atleast a 1300(cr+m) so maybe a 600 on CR will be really helpful! I think the only thing we can do is STUDY! lol

Do u guys have gpa in india, if you don’t please how do you calculate it? I’m international too and i don’t know how to calculate my gpa.

Hahaha. Jpatel man. I’m in the same boat. I need minimum 1300 CR and Math. I overanalyze the CR, and I make stupid mistakes on math. It’s just funny how I get nearly perfect on writing though.

Jagurl, I live in the US. I have no clue how it works in India!! Make a thread about it?!

Haphazard! I know right, I’m just worried If I’ll get into my college with MYSCORE<1300CR+M! Hey send me a friends request on here or whatever it is so we can keep in touch!!!

I guess we all are in same position. My math score is around 700, writting is around 570 and reading (ugh…)is -around 500… My avg. sat score is around 1800… My problem in reading is that I just dont like to read and I grew up in India.

The only way to improve reading is to practice CR sections in practice tests.
JPatel I bet you are gujarati.?

and Haphazard i didnt knew you were Indian

Lets go India…

Gondal!!! Those scores are almost just like mine!!! I’m taking a practice test right now and will post my scores in a few! I am Gujarati, I was born in the US but my parents are from India! Add me as a friend on here!

Haha. I’m new to this jpatel. Also my scores are 1850’s. With reading lowest. I started with 650’s reading, but I overanalyze a lot and pick the wrong of the two choices I narrow down to. I’m bad at math. =. My writing is powerful.

I’m guju too haha. Same. I was born here. I’m new to CC. So I don’t really know how to use it.

It sucks that not many colleges even look at the writing!!! What math classes are you taking, are you in honors? The best way to improve math is to do practice problems and learn from mistake, then next time if you have a similar problem you will know how to do it!!!

Ok, I just got done with Princeton’s cracking the PSAT Practice test #2 2011. I got 61M, 60CR, and 50W. On the real Psat I took as a 10th grader I got 67M, 48CR & 52W. Pretty crazy, I’m glad that my CR score went higher!! But my math did drop! Good thing colleges dont really look at writing, right?! Thanks!

I think we all should work together and share problems that we have in each sections, since we all are in same position.
My today’s Kaplan SAT practice test score is 490CR, 720M,520W. (I went up 20 points in math, went down 40 points in CR, and went down 10 points in W from my previous BB test which was taken last week)
I don’t know why i went down 40 points in CR lol
and Jpatel be careful in PR’s 11 practice test because it has many errors in it’s tests
stick with Barron’s and BB as much as you can…

Dude, Gondal it make me feel more comfortable that other “Indians” are having this problem! But I also use the bb so i giess its fine! Yeah we can do that for sure!
