I recently started a charity and I'm trying to recruit members for it. I have good intentions and I'm planning to donate the money raised to poor people. However, people don't think I'm serious and they think that I just want to scam them. I need to find out a way to make my charity legitimate so more people will join. How do I go about doing this. Thanks.

Hey!

First off: Congrats on taking the initiative to start an organization for something you care about. What is the cause?

I’m on the national Youth Advisory Council (I was accepted last year, when the process was actually competitive) for DoSomething.org, the largest organization in the US dedicated to teens and social change. Do Something has awesome resources for young people looking to rock the causes they care about!

I suggest you check out our Do Something University section of the website. It’s like social change boot camp in text and video form. You can check it out at DoSomething.org/u. You can read about anything from brainstorming ideas for the basics of your organization, to really advanced things such as 501(c)3 status and fiscal sponsorship.

Feel free to respond here or shoot me a PM if you have any questions!
