How can I pass the Language Requirement at UChicago

As an new incoming student to UChicago I'm wondering if it's possible for me to fulfill the language requirement without having to take the AP.

Besides testing out in a competency exam at the school, does anyone know if there are any other ways to fulfill the requirement.

Will the SAT II or CLEP exam credit work for Spanish?

I don’t know about SAT II/CLEP Exam work, but you can take a Language Competency test here or you can study abroad and take a language course there (also satisfies the Civilizations Core req.)

This link has all the ways to test out:
[Language Competency | The College](http://college.uchicago.edu/academics-advising/course-selection-registration/language-competency)

The SAT II won’t work. But what’s the problem with the competency test? I have the strong impression that they aren’t that hard, if you are in fact competent in the language.

I took the language competency test for German - you do the language placement tests online over the summer before you actually start at school. It wasn’t particularly hard, and it placed me into the right level.
