hello, I’m an international student. and I’m planing to apply for some U.S colleges. but I find them really expensive. so how can I take a scholarship? and is there anything that I have to do after taken it?
What do you mean, “how can I take a scholarship?”. Do you mean how do you find a scholarship?
I mean, how can I find a scholarship and how can I be considered at taken it?
What are your stats? GPA, test scores breakdown
will, I just finished junior year, and I got 98.12%. our GPA is given to us by a percentage. and I didn’t take any SAT/ACT test yet. so after all I know that it’s early to think about a scholarship, but I want to make sure my plans are in the right way.
You really need to get that SAT done as soon as possible.
Hoping @happymomof1 sees this as she can direct you to the right resources for international students.
As a free piece of advice…you should, also be looking at colleges in your country which will be far less costly.
You should read through everything at https://educationusa.state.gov/ You will learn a lot of useful information there.
Then contact the counselors at the closest advising center. https://educationusa.state.gov/find-advising-center They will be able to tell you which colleges and universities here have admitted students from your country recently. They also will know about scholarships for students from your country.

^^ Very true. Each year, a GAZILLION int’ls who want financial aid apply to US universities. Only a SMALL % actually get admitted with the amount of aid they need to be able to attend.
Grants & Scholarships in the US come in two forms:
Grants: Based on family finances (income and assets). Only a very small number of schools are “need blind” and meet need to int’ls. There are some who are “need aware” and will meet need. And, some will give “some aid” but expect families to pay most costs. And there are some that will admit intl’t, but will only give some aid to some of the students. Many/most “full need” awards do not cover int’l travel costs and don’t cover health insurance. I dont know if those schools also have a “student contribution”. (anyone know?)
Scholarships: I don’t think that there are any true “full int’l COA” merit scholarships in the US for int’ls. If your stats are high enough, they you might be able to find some “free tuition” scholarships, but your family would have to pay about $17k per year for room, board, fees, books, health insurance, int’l travel costs, and personal expenses. You might find a school that will give you tuition, room and board scholarships, but your family will still have to pay about $7k for health insurance, int’l travel and personal expenses.
You can’t work much in the US, and you have to show that you have all costs covered in order to get a visa.
What country are you from? certain countries have too many applicants, so chances are even lower.
How much can your parents pay each year for college costs and travel?
