How Colleges View Self-Study APs vs AP Classes

Can anyone who is well versed in this explain how colleges view self-study APs on applications? To me it would make more sense that they would be clamoring to accept those who could self-study and get a 5 as opposed to someone who would need to be in class and get a 5. Are comparatively self-study APs are worth the time and effort for the chances of reward that comes with them vs taking regular high school classes or community college classes?

My problem is that my school offers very few of the AP classes that I would like to take so if taking an AP class is viewed in a better light I can't take the class because I live in Idaho. I'm just curious to see how much this could hurt me.

An admissions officer I spoke to told me she didn’t care how many AP classes I took; she cared more that I took the exams. Self-studies are definitely favorable, especially in your case.

^Who the **** cares about you?!

I like this topic!
