i am a accounting major and ppl usuaaly scoff at my major like.. thats eay or sumthin. whats up with the disrespect. I'm just a PRACTICAL minded person

I wouldn't say that.
Buisness jobs just tend to be more drone work and predictable.

Because you are hanging around with too many stupid and immature kids, you are still in college aren't you? Accountants that own their own CPA firms are typically respected, so are experienced Big 4 employees.

most big 4 employees should be respected

because people who don't know what they want to major in.. major in business

Yeah, them business majors are so stupid I guess that's why they have the highest salary of every other major.

That's not true, most business majors don't make jack****, they do have higher salary potential though.

^agreed -

A lot of people major in business because for several reasons. Some don't know what they want to do, so they choose business because almost every job is going to have a little business material involved (which is why business is a good major). The people you say are dumb are more than likely in the major because they heard it would make you a lot of money. They are dumb with this because they think that the degree is their ticket to success, and they don't have to actually learn any on the job training. You should strive on the fact that there are a ton of unqualified business majors, because that means you could easily stand out with excellence in an enormous group of degree bearing individuals.

^^ Totally right, apayton ^^

Dumb people get degrees in fruitcake majors like Phys. Ed. Teaching, etc.

And Sociology, Communications, and Poli Sci. Then if they are lucky they get a job at $30,000/yr. And biz mafor from a decent school will make nearly twice that plus a bonus and great benefits.

^I disagree with Poli Sci

Are you sure?

I am..................

I'm going to have to disagree and say that dumb people don't go to college ; )

apayton, I hope that was an attempt at a joke.

No..it takes intelligence to get a degree man.

It is ridiculous to say dumb people study business. At most of the top LAC's and 6 of the Ivy schools (Cornell and Penn being the exception), there is no business major. (Perhaps this is why you have this misguided perception) However, at many of these schools, economics is the top major. This is often a back door attempt at a business degree. Many of these top school students go on to get an MBA or go into banking. Many of these folks make 6 or 7 figure incomes. They are hardly dumb folks.

The business major usually requires many "traditionally difficult" type courses, ie statistics, accounting and finance, as well as courses in economics, law and computer programming. Once again, hardly easy!

Isn't business harder than most majors except engineering and cs?

Depends what major you take in business.
