I thought umd didn’t ask for mid-year reports…couldn’t find it in their website. I also check the documents they received and all were tick marked. So did anyone talk to the umd representative on phone?

Son applied before the priority deadline and was advised the following in February, which is what the website has said ever since (except for the one day it was changed to a short sentence saying something along the lines that they could not make a decision yet, but then reverted back afterwards):

“Thank you for your application for admission to the University of Maryland. The Admission Committee has completed an initial review of your application but is not yet able to reach a final decision. In order to make a final decision, we would like to consider your grades from the first semester of your senior year to determine if you are among our most competitive applicants. Please arrange to have your high school send us your grades as soon as possible. You will be notified of a final decision by April 1.”

Everything is also ticked for me on documents received so I assumed I didn’t have to give anything else.
I’m mailing my grades today, hopefully it’ll be resolved soon, I’m really anxious for replies.

Did anyone actually call them? I am going to today…

hey its better then tiolet paper!!!

So I assume no one else got a post in the mail saying they’ve been accepted? Online, it still says that “we are unable to blah blah,” but I think they sent out decisions in mail

Nope. Nothing in mail.

Okay, now it’s gone back to what it said briefly a couple of weeks ago:

"We are unable to offer you a decision on your application at this time. You will be contacted as soon as the decision process is complete.

Thank you for your interest in the University of Maryland."

Does that effectively mean that he’s been waitlisted? This whole thing is very strange . . .

My son finally got a notice today! Not accepted and with his stats I am very shocked to say the least. He doesn’t want to attend but the application process was the worst ever at UMD. His top three Schools accepted him ages ago and with great FA!! So no idea what is happening at UMD. Good luck!

I agree with jonson – very poor. My son’s stats are much higher than the 75% for the average admit. And he was accepted to his top choice.

@jonson amd zaqwas are you guys in state or out of state? Anyway looks like i am going to get bad news 2 since its this late.

Just got rejected this morning, I found out online

Still nothing 4 me…prob rejected

in-state . . . and got the on-line rejection this morning . . . again, given that my son had already accepted his spot at Haverford, I was just curious to see if the last scene of the college admissions horror story would be one in which the hero escapes the zombies or if the zombies devour the hero . . . I guess they’re feasting now.

^^LOL. But I really want to go there.

Sorry tekneek, I wish you luck… my son is instate. He wasn’t even bothered by the rejection, he gave up on UMD about 2 months ago.

I haven’t received word yet either. I had everything sent and received in time to make the Transfer Priority Deadline. I am out of state (VA), but someone from my current institution has already received their acceptance email. I spoke with someone in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions today and she said that no one had looked at my application yet. I feel like my chances for getting in to UMD are excellent, and although I may be starting to worry a teeny bit, I’m pretty sure it’s a case of them not having fully evaluated my application yet. Good luck!

how can “no-one” look at the application? We have our deadlines when submitting the application…we expect to get notification in time too. Its already april 8TH!

I just got accepted and I from NJ out of state. I just received their packet in the mail today.

BUT, Im not going there because, I got accepted to my first top school too. So probably you guys will get my spot =p

Good luck

Im a transfer student and this is what they sent me:

“Thank you for your application for admission to the University of Maryland. After a careful review of your academic record, the Admission Committee has decided to postpone a decision on your application until we receive your current semester’s grades. We feel it is necessary to evaluate these grades in order to assess fully your academic strengths and abilities. Please request that the registrar of your present college or university forward your current grades to us as soon as they become available. These grades must be final and posted to an official transcript. We look forward to receiving your updated information.”

Anyone get the same thing? im worried that by the time the end of the semester hits and i get my grades and send to them they will be full. Any one know my chances on getting in?
