From what I heard, USC is really a good school, comparable to UCLA. So, how come USC is not in CC top 20 list?

There have been a few topics about this and the moderators have refused to add USC to the list. My guess is that the list was made before USC’s sharp rise in the rankings and hasn’t changed since then.

If you look at the cc top 20 list it makes no sense, not because of USC but many others as well that should be on there and many that shouldn’t be on there (University of Chicago? UNC Chapel Hill, no insult intended to these fine schools but, in place of so many others?)

I never thought it meant top 20 for anything significant, just thought is was traffic on site, an easy access index, or just something random cause it is certainly a random list. Certainly not an insult to not be part of it, if anything it makes cc look goofy.

Who cares?

How will your life or the reputation of USC change in any way based on their ranking by a private internet website? Will the quality of applicants suddenly jump? With an average admit of 3.8/2140 there’s not exactly a lot of room left to move up. Will the number of applicants jump? They’re already rejecting 4 out every 5, what more do you want?

Ratings are pointless. Seriously, how hard is it to go out on a limb and say HYPMS are ‘top’ schools? Do you think anyone in the world would think Stanford or Harvard are ‘worse’ schools if CC suddenly took them off its list? The truth is most of the college applicant world doesn’t know CC exists; so why worry about their opinion of who “the top” schools are? This website is a great place to get (mostly) useful information about different colleges. But don’t give them more credit than they deserve.

All you need to know is that the average USC admit is bright and accomplished. They are virtually indistinguishable from the average student at any of the so-called Top 20 schools. If you insist on letting others define how valuable your school is based on worthless rankings then you’re missing the entire point of attending college. (Hint: It’s about learning to think for yourself).

If CC doesn’t feel compelled to put USC in their list of top universities, then more power to them. In the grand scheme of things it is of little consequence. I think those who have done their due diligence would find that USC is easily one of the top universities in the US and merits such a designation, but that is neither here nor there. As @vinceh stated, most rankings are pointless, and any rankings on CC will probably not have any real world implications.

A lion doesn’t lose sleep over the opinions of sheep.

I’ve come to the conclusion that its list just makes cc look kind of silly and out of touch.

Oh, this thread again… ;)

CADREAMIN, I hope you are kidding about UChicago.

But UChicago is such a good school…Even US News ranked it as #4
