How come Wharton....

has a low average starting salary for its undergraduate students?

<a href="http://www.wharton.upenn.edu/undergrad/faq.html#Q29%5B/url%5D">http://www.wharton.upenn.edu/undergrad/faq.html#Q29</a>
Scroll to the bottom of the page, it says the average salary is only $50000, which is not much higher than the average business student. Don't get me wrong 50k a year is good for a recent college grads but with all the people that enter Ibanking/consulting from that school I thought that number would be higher.

Bonus attributes for additional compensation. In banking (as with other finance positions) bonuses are large and later become much more sizable than base salary.

Also, not all wharton alumni enter the financial industry. Many pursue careers in teaching, government, NGO's, etc. , which have smaller paychecks

oh yea forgot about bonuses.
