<p>I applied for Architecture studies.. and i don't know how competitive this major is...
I applied kinda late so it makes more nervous.. (like three days before the deadline..)</p>
<p>I am not sure I can get in or not T.T</p>
<p>I have a pretty good GPA 3.87
AND NOT so good SAT.. (.. i don't even want to talk about it :).. )
I took 4 AP courses -> PHYSICS, STAT, LIT, AND GOV</p>
<p>The rigor/competitiveness of the architecture major itself I do not know so well, but I do know that landscape architecture is one of the most competitive majors at the University of Washington. Knowing that, I’ll probably assume that architecture is not so easy. But know that UW does not base the admission process on the applicant’s intended major. If the applicant is qualified then he or she is generally accepted-regardless of the indicated major. If I recall correctly, UW students do not actually go into their major until the junior year, thus an “ineffective major” for admissions. You shouldn’t worry so much about the major indicated on your application.</p>
<p>I don’t know how “not so good” your SAT score was, but based on your GPA and AP classes you seem like a perfect candidate for UW

<p>I am not deeply familiar with the graduate school; I just know bits because I have lived here all me life. UW’s reputation of their graduate (architecture) school is actually quite respectable and competitive. Architecture, especially landscape, is one of UW’s more popular major after those related to medicine and research. Admission to UW architecture grad school is probably most competitive in the pacific northwest. I’m sorry, but I only know this much.</p>

<p>I am very familiar with the Architectural Studies major in the UW CBE, and I can tell you that the admissions officers in the Arch. Dept. will not care about your high school GPA or how many AP classes you took. You will not need to worry about getting in now…the admissions process is largely based on your application and pre-architecture coursework you take during your freshman and sophomore years. </p>
<p>You will be taking 5 classes, three history and theory classes, and two studio design classes. The average GPA for those classes is about 2.7, and 3.4 for those that get in. You will learn a lot in these classes and they will help you prepare your portfolio, which is probably your single biggest bet on getting in. Don’t worry about this now, you will learn everything in due time.</p>
<p>For the record, I understand the acceptance rate to be around 25%.</p>
<p>By the way, pumpkins is correct. You are not actually applying to the program until Spring of your sophomore year. Your intended major will simply be pre-architecture for the first two years. If you get in, then you will be able to declare Arch. Studies as your major.</p>
