I know UNT is going to be very competitive for jazz guitar. But I have heard statistics from time to time on CC about how many violinists, guitarists, singers, etc were admitted x year at this school or that. Does anyone have any estimates or numbers on how many guitarists are accepted to the jazz program at UNT each year? Any idea?
Also, I know there are no guarantees and every place is different, etc etc. But going from there, if a person is accepted to say, Berklee and Denver/Lamont, would his chances be at least fairly good for UNT?
Again, I know every school, every circumstance is different. I'm just trying to get a ballpark idea ----- my crystal ball is broken and yet I love to try looking into the future. :D

I think it’s nigh impossible to quantify because the assumption in the example above is that the same people are applying to the exact same schools. Which is highly unlikely although not impossible. Different colleges may look beyond the performance skills and look at the mix of other skills or academics or even personality types in deciding on a class. Would you want to teach a class of 30 highly strung type As for 4 years?

I think it’s saner for you to focus just on your own efforts. You have no control of other people and their applications.

Get your head down and work away at the areas you need to with the firm belief that you want to go to school there and that you’ve done all you can to prepare. If you don’t succeed but really want to attend, reapply and reaudition next year. It can take some people years to get into med school. Why not any other professionally relevant course? Very best wishes for your application. You have my great admiration as a completely unmusical person :)
