Many people on here have taken all availible AP classes on top of their laundary list of ECs.

How did you deal with the course load? What did you do to stay on top of everything and still get high scores? Any advice or anything you wish you would have done?

I took 7 tests last year (Calc AB, Physics Mech, Stats, Macro/Micro, Lang, CS)

Basically you have to set your priorities. The classes you want to succeed in the most should take up the most time in your schedule (Physics for me). The classes that you are breezing through should receive less attention (for me Calc AB, but still enough to maintain an A). Then you have to realize that some classes are impossible to “hard” study (Lang), so use more time in class for that through timed writings/essays.

Simply put, you can’t focus all your energy on your most “favorite” class. You should keep a well balanced schedule where you focus more on the classes that are difficult and most important.

Honestly, it’s about finding what works for you. Junior year is going to be rough for me, with six APs, a job, and extracurriculars, and I know it’ll take some trial and error to see what works for me. But I think staying organized is absolutely KEY, so that you don’t forget about or waste time looking for something instead of getting stuff done. Also, time management. Instead of sitting around waiting for class to start, pull out some flashcards, or some math homework and get some stuff done. You don’t have to do this all the time- definitely spend some time talking with your friends and such- but I feel like there’s a lot of wasted time during the school day that could just be used more wisely.

In the end, you’ll make time for the things that you want to. It all works out.
