How hard would it be to take 5 AP courses next year in my junior year?

I'm planning on taking AP Physics B, APUSH, AP English, AP Macroeconomics, and AP Calc BC.
(The only other challenging course i will be taking will be Spanish 4)

I am extremely involved in plenty of extracurriculars and have many positions in all of them, so a lot of time has to be dedicated to them.

Also, I will definitely have an SAT/ACT Tutor to prepare me for them and to help me improve. Hopefully I can get a great score from the start and won't have to retake it a lot, or even another time.

If you are really involved in ECs I would not recommend that schedule. I am currently in APUSH and all though the class is reasonable, it produces a ton of homework. I have heard the same about calc and physics, though I have not taken them. If I where you I would cut at least one of the three hards ones (APUSH, calc, physics) and maybe one more. Honestly you don’t have time if you have a lot of ECs.

Well I am definitely taking AP Calc because my math teacher would never let me take a regular math class. He’s planned out all my math classes for the next 2 years.

APUSH I’m taking because I don’t want to be in a regular class, and also the teacher is pretty easy. I have her this year too for US Honors, so it’d basically be like a more in depth review.

AP Physics is one of the only classes I’m debating. I heard it isn’t a lot of work, just hard tests. In Physics (regular) there is a lot more work but the tests are really easy.

AP Macroeconomics is also only a half year course, so I’d only have to deal with it for like 4-5 months, and then I’d have an easy class.

I took AP Calc, Lang + Comp, and USH (as well as Honors Chem) junior year, and that was absolutely enough for me. I can’t imagine that AP workload along with physics and econ! I really recommend USH - it’s a fabulous class - and I loved my calc class, but could you save physics for senior year and take an elective or something this year? That’s what I would do.

Well we need 4 years of a lab science. That’s why I was going to do AP Physics junior year and AP Bio senior year. (I’m really good at science and math by the way.)

I really wouldn’t, at my school you can’t even take AP science until you already took the intro class. Take honors physics if your school has it, if they don’t take regular physics. As for the Macro it may not be long, but it is another class with an AP workload (and don’t forget you will be a junior).

I am a junior who is currently in two honors class, two AP classes, two electives, two art classes (I go to a magnet school), one language outside of school and one class at a local college. Today I got home around 6:30 (another person with a busy schedule here), I then proceeded to do four hours of homework. Tomorrow I will get home at nine, I will then go do 2-3 hours of homework.Trust me you don’t need all those APs, you will be busy enough.

There is no honors physics. They got rid of it because they want people taking AP. But good point… I’ll talk to a senior I’m friendly with that took AP Physics and ask her about it. Ill talk to my guidance counselor about AP Macro and see what she thinks.

Yeah I’m in pre-AP Physics and the tests are super hard but the quizzes and homework are really easy. My teacher doesn’t teach us everything that is on the test, but even if he did, it would still be near-impossible. Also, I’m a freshman so I kind of brought this upon myself haha

Yea. I’d rather have hard tests than a lot of hard work because I usually understand something as soon as it’s taught to me. Homework, in my opinion, is just busy work and doesn’t really help me.

facepalm duh, four years of science. My bad. Either way, this schedule sounds like a ridiculous amount of homework, and there really are more important things to do junior year. Like I said, focus on what you like outside of school. That’s my one regret from junior year - I loved all my classes, but I spent most of my time on homework or the internet. sigh

If you really dedicate yourself to your work, there’s no doubt that you can handle it. From what I understand, though, AP Physics B is one of the most difficult AP classes.

I don’t know, at my school it’s not that much work, but I’ll try to find someone to ask (only 5 kids are taking it this year).

Ap physics is worth taking, there isn’t too much work so you should be ok. The only class I would advise against is ap Econ. I’m not sure what your teacher will be like, but it is a hard class and there is a lot of work so don’t take it if your worried about that. I also consider myself to be good at math and science (I’m currently taking calc BC and ap physics) but I think that Econ is pretty difficult.
