How did you get into Columbia? Or any Ivy for that matter.

General formula:
Get great grades in tough classes
Distinguish yourself with passions and leadership outside of school
Write great application essays
Send in all application materials on time (this part is really important)

haha, i like it saintsaens, says it all.

Sex, lies, deceit, money, etc.

Nah seriously, what saintseans says.

Get high grades/scores. Create a concrete “image” of yourself through your application. (Ec’s, recs, awards, etc.)

Well, you fill out this thing called a college application for admission. You write essays for it then submit it. A few months later you find out if you got in! Its almost like magic, except they have elves do all the work.

That was so hilarious. I wonder how much thought you put in that mediocre joke. Must’ve taken you all night.

For one thing, you don’t have a negative attitude. You don’t drip with condescension and arrogance. You appreciate the process for what it is and try to find schools that are a good fit for you, regardless of the perceived prestige and brand name. Then you try your best at school, taking classes you’re genuinely interested in and working hard in them not solely for the effect it has on your GPA, but because you actually have a burning desire to learn. You pursue extracurricular activities, volunteer opportunities, and internships that you find interesting, appreciating the effect they have on your college profile but also appreciating the fun and unique life experiences you’re having. Finally, you consider what aspect(s) of your life truly define who you are and what is important to you. Then you start writing about specific life experiences that incorporate these aspects of your life, so that anyone reading your essay can understand who you believe you are. That is how you get into a good college.

Most useful information anyone could have given thank you so much.
