I'm a Freshman in college just looking back on missed opportunity. I have EFC of 3 digits, I had a 4.3 wGPA and 2300 on the SAT. I currently unhappily attend my state school. In fact only top schools I were accepted were public schools that barely offered me any aid, (barely applied to any privates)

So, was this something told by your teacher/counselor? I went to a magnet high school that attracted very well off kids almost exclusively. None of my peers or friends knew or cared about this either.

A friend of mines at Notre Dame told me about Questbridge

My summer physics teacher told me the summer before my senior year. :)

A Questbridge Scholar from last year came back to our school on vacation and told a group of select students about her experience.

I actually found out through college confidential. :)

We got a brochure in the mail, then I checked it out here. Once S13 decided to apply, he told people at school and they ended up with like 6 applicants from his high school this year.

So cool! I applied for the college prep scholarship, hoping that I get in.

We got a brochure in the mail too and then went to the QB website, and began asking around in person and online; I think QB must get income data from college board if kids report it when signing up for SAT’s…once we knew about it, we saw QB everywhere: here on CC, on college admissions pages of partner schools there’s usually a QB link or info page, etc. It really does take awhile to figure out the QB programs though and whether it’s right for a given student. College prep may be a no brainer, no lose propsition, but the College Match may not be for everyone, even if you qualify. Sorry to the OP that you missed the chance to apply through QB; that must feel so frustrating, esp if you’re not happy where you are. But most QB partner schools practice need blind admission and guarantee free tuition for families with income <60K, so you would have been in great shape even without QB. And if you are really unhappy, nothing has to be permanent…lots of students transfer and are happy they made the effort. Just talked to a girl who transferred within the 5 college consortium in MA to a college that was a better fit in terms of the scholarly nature of the student body and she is beyond thrilled.

I was contacted by Questbridge because of my ACT score, though I had been mildly familiar with them before that thanks to CC.

I found out about it last year but I did never thought that I would qualify for it. I then got all this mail from them this year and decided to apply for the prep scholarship.

I was talking about my financial situation to a friend. I was worried about a blemish on my application and I knew how important great stats are in order to get financial aid. My Calculus teacher overheard and told me about Questbridge. I was so grateful. I applied to their College Prep Scholarship and will apply to the National Match Program.

A girl at my high school was matched with a college through Questbridge!

A friend told me about the program months ago but I hardly looked into it. The website said applications weren’t available until the fall and it seemed too prestigious for me.

Yesterday they sent me and email based on College Board recommendations so I decided to look into it again. Now I’m applying!
