How different are new SAT and old SAT (reading + math) scores?

How different are new SAT and old SAT reading + math scores in terms of how good they are, since both of them have a maximum score of 1600? Would 1400 on the new SAT regarded equivalent to 1400 on reading + math old SAT by colleges which currently combine only the reading and math scores without the writing score? I am actually not sure if it is that such colleges only report reading + math score or if it is that they only combine and look at the reading + math score. Whichever one it is that they are doing, would they deem 1400 on the new SAT equivalent to 1400 on the old math reading SAT? (or 2100 on the composite for colleges that have looked at all sub scores until this year?)
