I am a sophmore and I only have 1 AP class this year(Bio). I’m doing well in it and think I can handle 2 next year. At my school, you have to take AP Physics C at the same time as AP Calc AB. Is this a hard combination? Also, I want to take AP Chem and AP Micro/Macro(virtual) senior year. I heard AP Physcology is an easy AP, is it worth taking? How hard were these 5 AP classes to you?
classes are very school-specific, why don’t you talk to some Juniors or Seniors who have already taken these classes at your school? Unlike exams, classes are not standardized to the same degree (although AP teachers must submit their curriculum for approval, teachers have a wide range of grading and teaching styles)
It seems you are in the reverse order as my D. She took AP Chem (and should have taken AP Econ) in junior and then AP Physics C and AP Calc BC in senior. It really depends on the student. AP Psychology is considered one of the easiest AP but it does not mean everyone can get 4 or 5 in the exam. I did not encourage my D to take more AP (she took 6 total) as we had no idea how well she would perform. She had APUSH in sophomore; AP English and AP Chem in Junior; AP Physics C, AP Calc BC, and AP Spanish in senior. She could not take AP Comp Sci due to schedule conflict. After her junior year, we regretted she did not take AP Gov and AP Econ. However, we are glad she did not after we figure out the amount of AP credits she got. Think about which AP classes would be useful for your major and how many credits you may receive at your target school. My D got a total of 33 credits her 6 AP (all 5) and she got advanced placement in all required pre-requisites plus fulfilled most of the GE/elective requirement. Additional AP credit would not gain her any useful credit plus she may need to pay higher tuition rate even earlier (unless she dropped the credit). So we actually saved a couple hundred bucks from not taking those extra AP classes and exams.
